No credit for the pun - Great Firewall of China is commonly used by IT professionals especially those of us who have to deal with offices inside China. I mostly go to Tiertime when discussing the Up printer with a client. Hardly any other reason - If I were to get a bigger and better printer it probably wouldn't be FDM - probably powder based.

I think in OZ the Inspire S200 is about $10,000 plus GST up to about $30,000 plus GST for the D290 . But These price are only what I have been told by other 3D printer users.
All have heated print chambers,
About $200 / kilo for filament.
Expensive maybe, but print quality and support removal are very good.

The disputes are now too common in patents.Number of patent application are available with these patent troll which we can't imagine.

I was under the impression that the boom in the reprap and affordable 3d printing sector was due to the fact that all of stratasy's initial patents had expired.
I know this is about software, but there are limited options for how an FDM machine can do its job.
This seems like bullying to me, and my nerdy afinia still gets better grades than the popular kid makerbot.

The earliest patents--the ones covering the basic method of FDM--have expired.

But Stratasys (like most tech companies) also kept filing new patents on incremental improvements to the technology.

Most of the patents at issue in this lawsuit are fairly old and due to expire in a year or two. One of the patents is fairly recent, but it covers a fairly minor bit of functionality.
