Surface Printing

Post by Stone » Sat Jun 29, 2013 2:20 pm

I have an Afinia that I have been using for the last 6 months. I loaded the new V1.19 because i want to do surface printing. mainly i want a thin wall cover (or an open topped box).
Earlier in a posting concerning the new Up. Star3DPrint stated he had gotten walls as thin as .5mm . This morning i have tried multiple attempts and have never succeeded in printing less than 1mm. I have actually done better printing a normal print w/ wall thicknesses of .8mm.
in surface mode
1. so far i have noted that it continues to do double wall.
2. when i printed a thicker drawing (1mm) i got an inner and outer thin wall separated by a space.
3. it will not print a bottom -- is this peculiar to the surface? i would need to glue a top on a surface to make my cover, but i would at least have succeeded.

Thanks for any help, good forum site (Afinia has promised a forum but has never delivered) the UP/Afinia works well, glad i didn't wait for a formlabs (which if i had put my money down i'd still be waiting).
