Re: SPAM reports to Admin

I run a phpBB forum and the best way I found to stop these people was to add a secret Pin number to the registration form. The pin number could be posted somewhere, maybe on the main website. I force our users to send an email asking for it (works OK if you have access to email 24/7) It seems like a...

Re: UP Mini - heated bed

I understand that it's supposed to be 50degrees.
Warping has been less of a problem or at least no worse than with the UP! plus which I put down to the Mini being enclosed and the platform having more even heat distribution.

Re: Wrapping photos around cylindrical and spherical forms?

My plan (results here )was to allow the profile of the cylinder to be drawn - probably with bezier curves. Then just revolve and create a mesh from it... mixing the pixel heights as you go. Bear in mind you will need to create a revolved inner surface as well. Some kind of scaling;start;end;height;w...

Re: Print quality of the new colored ABS?

It looks like it behaves pretty well Do you clean out the extruders before changing color or does the previous color disappear pretty quick after changing?
One or two extrudes is enough to see a consistent new color...I've never had to clean a nozzle

Re: up mini

And as for support this Forum is a great place. You'll be able to get spares from the UK quickly...if it's something special then pp3dp China are great at getting parts out to customers (I made them aware of someone on here wanting an older version stepper driver board, they contacted him and sent o...

I've heard that a jewellery/watch repair shop will have silver crimps which are ideal for this

Re: Mini Z platform sticking then dropping

Haven't seen that behaviour, but did have a broken Z clamp: http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1107&start=20#p7897 Try moving the axis up and down by hand with the power off - it should be obvious if something is jamming or sticking. Also note that someone else had a problem with the Z l...

Re: Wall thickness - single line?

It's impossible for the software to create single line thickness's. The 3D shape is sliced into layers of closed polygons which means thin wall-like features have to be enclosed by two lines of extrusion. The software will drop features it can't enclose. As the new 1.17 software and ROM update suppo...

Re: UP! Software and ROM v1.17 Final

Thank you, very exciting development! Unbelievable that my two+ year old printer still gets such incredible updates! That is, I am still running V6.02/F1.0, so it looks like I will have to wait till after the PRC holidays for either CPU/Firmware upgrade or a new compatible ROM it seems? Unless anyo...

Re: State of Home 3D Printing

Yes, really good article. I especially agree with the comments about the Cube being too soon to market and that current users also want to tinker with the printer's. You can tell from the number of mods and feature requests on this forum that people aren't always happy with what they're given - they...

Re: How much do you actually use your up! Printer

True. The enclosure will be around the price of 3-4 rolls of filament.
Sorry, I meant the price difference between the open UP! plus and the Mini would buy lots of ABS
Of course, if you already have an UP! then your enclosure looks ideal :)

Re: My Afinia / UP!3D Video Review

Great, thanks for sharing.

I've never tried swapping filament half way through a print...I'm guessing after you hit "Pause print" from the maintenance window you can then withdraw and extrude as normal, then just hit the Pause button again to resume ?

Re: Print quality of the new colored ABS?

I generally find the darker the filament the more it shows the layers. Regardless of the brand. The whites and creams look best in this regard. Black the worst. I'd normally agree with this but the official black has a matt surface to it which seems to reduce the visibility of the layers when compa...

Re: Platform Heat Error

Follow the wires from the heater and thermistor under the table and look for any signs of damage. Also check that all relevant connectors are secure and pushed together properly. It could be that the machine had an issue previously but the new version of software has picked up on it (that's just a g...
