Re: Printing with No Raft

Brian, I can only speak to the UP plus. In the case if this printer, just selecting no raft allows the print to start directly onto the base without any adjustment. indeed the Z axis offest does nothing as regardless of where the object shows above or below the platform, the object starts at the bas...

Re: Search engine does not seem to work correctly

Thanks for the tip Woofy, it works well.
I guess the lack of the fourm search working on even simple searches is what dauses so many repeats of questions from new comers, due to thevfact that they cannot find suitable threads on the forum.

Re: Printing with NinjaFlex

Gnomadix,

I tried Ninjaflex and due to its "floppiness" designed a Pre extruder that seems to work well.

On Google search Rubber Plastic advice site:www.pp3dp.com

This should get you to the thread on this forum where I describe the pre-extruder with photos.

Search engine does not seem to work correctly

The Search engine on this forum seems to fail.

I was looking for a thread titled Rubber plastic advice.

Typing it into the search box does not find it. Why ?

So I typed into the search box ninjaflex, knowing the word exists in the same thread. Again it is not found. Why ?

cheers

Re: Up Default Temps

Roller, The general consensus is that the UP Plus, and I guess Mini use a PT100 PTC for measuring the extruder temperature. I believe the PT100 is a very precise device. Looking at a table of its Resistance vs Temperature it is certainly possible to measure the actual temperature to better than 1 de...

Re: Up Default Temps

Hi Roller, My Up Plus display in its original ABS configuration, a rising nozzle temp until it indicates just above 260and then it starts printing. The actual value when it starts varies between 261 and 263. I guess these small differences are just due to the polling sample times vs the main start t...

Re: Bed heat mod with dual temp and more light!

Hi Highvoltag3, It would be useful to know whether you are modding an UP Plus or UP Mini. I guess it may help if this "Look my Mod" section was split by the site designer into machine types. As it may just be me, but often mods seem to be described without reference to the version of printer. I am a...

Re: Windows 8.1

Stormychel, I made a fairly drastic mod to ensure a good feed of Ninjaflex, search "rubber Plastic Advice" thread and you should find description and photos. Basically I build a low pressure additional feeder above the extruder. It "helps" the ninjaflex into the extruder. Still on the original batte...

Re: Windows 8.1

Call me a luddite, but I am sticking with XP Pro. Several years ago I had a couple of laptops stolen, the insurance replaced them with new ones loaded with Vista. the stupidist version of Windows I have ever seen. I have tried 7 and found it too "trendy" with lots of what I want from Windows, hidden...

Re: FEATURE REQUEST - Material Calculation

motoyoyo, as pleppik suggests, even if you run out of material, it is fairly simple to continue an existing print with a new reel of material. Just before you run out, pause the print, using the withdraw command withdraw the last fragment of old material, load new reel, and using the extrude command...

Have you tried just stopping the wind barrier fan by hand. If it stops the buzzing the blades maybe just touching some surface as they rotate.

Re: How much plastic do you throw away?

Teamcarlilse, I agree with your observations. Bought my UP Plus second hand, long time ago, from guy who was moving on to printing in metal. .i have only once printed with a raft and have majored on Kapton tape smeared with an ABS wash in MEK. Except when using Ninjaflex, which holds to the ali plat...

Re: Details over PP3DP UP! Mini Plus Plus 2 10-step temp mo

Roller, The principle and practice of using a resistor/ series of resistors as a means to mod the extruder temperature was, I believe instigated by wilsonj sometime before you joined this forum, Roller. Wilsonj also came up with the plug and play version that negated cutting anycables and threads fr...

In your description you say you select the item select angle and click on rotate. that wont do it, at least in my version. you need to click on rotate, select angle then click the x,y or z axis you want to rotate. as you click an axis the object will rotate in the azis by the amount selected. likewi...

Re: raised lettering issue

if your tags are flat with raised text try the foillowing, print them on edge. this will work as long as the tag base can be a couple of mm thick. if you find that the narrow edge will not adher to the platform, just form a wide 1.5mm lip to the bottom edge and then cut it off when complete. printin...
