Re: Support material bonding too well to prints

tiertime-Ali seems to be missing the point.
The customers problem is removing support material, not the raft.

Re: Tried borosilicate glass

Robin, I'm with you. I have an original UP Plus with aluminum base plate. I had, after experimenting with a multitude of means to get the ABS to hold to the base, firmly come down on the side of Kapton tape on the solid base with a very thin wash of ABS dissolved in MEK, similar to Acetone. Having o...

Re: Warping edge

Now this may sound crazy, and I have not tried this myself, but, I have always noticed that on large area thickish prints the one corner, or sometimes two corner warp. However the warp only seems to occur over the first four or five millimetres. Is there a case for printing A sub base on a model of ...

Re: Problem with 0.1mm prints

You could try printing raftless onto A layer of Kapton tape. If you have not used this before, here are my suggestions. Stick Kapton tape to baseplate. using acetone or MEK, thoroughly clean the kapton tape surface to remove any release chemical surficant that the manufactuter applied to the roll. d...

Re: Print not sticking to the bed

i endorse Roller's methods for clearing the extruder nozzle. As an alternative to fine wire, which tends to bend too easily or a very small drill bit whech can be a little brittle, I use a fine syringe needle. Both cheap and fairly robust with the plastic back end it gives you something to grip with...

Re: Something has changed? But what?

You say you have cleaned the nozzle, but have you also removed the extruder assembly and checked the tube is clear, this is often where "clag" accumulates and can restrict or modify the feed to the nozzle. It is fairly simple to diss-assemble and re-assemble by removing the wind barrier, fan and the...

Re: New printer, no print goes right

From your image it looks as though the head is not moving correctly and as though something is slipping. it looks as though the first raft layer, horizontal thick lines laid correctly but the second layer thin vertical lines was then offset, above and to the left of the first layer. These should be ...

Re: Extruder Temp MOD

Roller, slicing out the one wire on this cable is no great diffculty. A small sharp knife through the insulation on either side of the wire without cutting down into the wire is quite possible with care. Standard practice in a lot of electronic projects. I would assume that if you have the capabilit...

Re: Extruder Temp MOD

Hi Macflame, Here is my mod to select extruder temperature, that does not add weight to the moving head and can be switched during operation. I used a cheap 8 switch DIP I had a load in a box of bits, so chose the colour coded type. The UK RS part number is 337-560 (Manufacturer ERG, their part numb...

Re: Extruder Temp MOD

As Roller points out your cables may weaken with usage due to the continuous motion of the head. Here is how I avoided that on an UP Plus. extrudr temp mod cable.jpg Assuming you can get at the ribbon cable nearer the base on the UP mini, you might try an "off the head" wiring solution. At this loca...

Re: HELPPPPP

hi, on no account try to remove the nozzle when it is cold, you will shear it off. set the printer to withdraw or extrude and once the nozzle is up to tempersture (260 degrees), you should be able to remove the nozzle with the tool provided. Refit the nozzle cold, do not tighten it further when hot....

Re: Warping between the raft and the piece

Dan, One of the limits of ABS is that it has a large coefficient of expansion when heated. Therefore shrinks dramatically as it cools. As can be seen in your print the shrinkage occurs most where the largest volume of material is and where the heat loss is greatest. You will find many partial soluti...

Re: Heat Bed not working!! PLS HELP!

most likly cable from platform heater to main unit. It is common for this to fail at the tight bend at the front of the belt channel that moves the platorm too and fro. If you remove the platform then take the top off the cable channel you may well find the cable at the front bend has some charring ...

Re: Howdy from Corona, California

Pete, The UP assumes all dimensions are in mm. However, if a model is loaded with a very small overall size, like a box with a dimension of say 2 x2 x2 the software regards this as to small to print and further assumes that the model dimensions are in inches it therefore multiplies the model sizes b...

Re: IMPORTANT FEATURE REQUEST!!! Flexible Filament

Yes, Print Ninjaflex in fine mode, I print at 260 degrees. However I found I also needed to mod my printer to add a small feeder assist at the extruder, explained elsewhere on this forum. Else if the job is simple and quick just use fingers to help filament into the feeder, with light pressure 1 che...
