Re: Cleaning the Nozzle

Not sure why you are concerned about the cables!
You can unscrew the nozzle and leave it to soak .

acetone will not remove severely burnt abs as this has beco e carbon and must be removed "mechanically"

search other threads on this site for more cleaning details

Re: Cleaning the nozzle ??

99% acetone is good enough for dissolving ABS. Should liquify any that has not burnt. It will not melt PLA. Any burnt black ABS is now really carbon and this will need mechanical removal as I am not aware of any chemical that will dissolve carbon,

Re: Real Raft less ?

With the UP plus you can also just put Kapton tape on the basic Aluminum platform, I have been doing so for almost 2 years.

I agree with Roller,

Thingyverse is the traditional location for UP users to share their designs, if they so wish

Re: Raft free printing on the MIini?

I do all my raft free printing on an UP Plus using Kapton tape over the original plate. Not sure if this can be done with the mini. Am I right in thinking the mini comes with a perfboard base. Even so I would have thought Kapton tape could be stuck over it. Separating ABS from the Kapton is straight...

Re: In need of printer parts, help!!

Hi jeeplvr,

I think Subamatt is suggesting that you make a temporary repair to the existing broken clip, then you can print some more for yourself.

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

certainly earlier versions of software show actual temp until the print starts then the value shows 0.1 degree or something like that. i am away from my printer at present so cannot check, but think that applies up to version 1.16

Re: PLA temperatures

If it extrudes at ABS extruder temperatiures but not at PLA extruder temperature, what does maintenance window report a PLA extruder temperature, this only shows just before the print starts, i.e. As the temp rises, printing starts at the set temperature and then depending on version of software the...

In present ambient of 23 degrees C Reported UP software maintenance window temperatures in draft free room are ABS 101.6 degrees C (Measured at plate centre with IR probe as 96.8 degrees C) PLA 53 degrees C (Measured at p...

See other posts about USB troubles. Most likely earth currents in the USB lead inducing rogue signals. Ensure your PC ground and printer ground are from the same AC outlet.

Re: Need advice on printing surfaces

Roller, I guess one reason I use Kapton is to get an almost mirror finish on the bottom surface, which in many of my prints ends up as the surface of the item I am printing. I very very rarely use the raft option. The perfboard left perf hole dimples on that bottom surface. Don't get me wrong I have...

Re: Need advice on printing surfaces

I note the earlier replies refer to "perfboard". Not sure if that is what you are referring to as the original base plate. I had assumed the original base plate was the aluminum black anodized plate, it is on mine, an UP Plus. If it is the aluminum plate, then firstly follow all of rollers flatness ...

Re: Printing Problems with UP Plus 2

As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, just soaking the head in acetone or MEK may not clear out the extruder tube or the fine nozzle. Burnt ABS or dust that may have been dragged into the nozzle with the filament (which electrostaticicly attracts dust), can clog the nozzle area. I find I need on occ...

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

Interesting that you reckon the start temperature of the extruder is the same regardless of PLA / ABS. While I have not looked at the maintenance page extruder temp between PLA & ABS, I have when printing fine/normal/fast. In each mode the printer starts at a different temperature. Just watch the te...

Re: My Note 2 phone case collection

Drew, Asit happens it would make no differernce holding the phone upside down. Rotating the flag image does not invert the pattern as the pattern is such that the It is only if you had a transparent phone and looked at thew pattern through the phone that it would be the wrong way around, if you see ...

Re: My Note 2 phone case collection

nick, the union flag is assymetrical. the red diagonal is offset such that when it is on a flag pole the upper red diagonal closest to the pole should be in the lower part of the white diagonal, i.e. more white above the red than below. convention also has it that when the flag is printed or shown n...

Re: Ideas for software temperature control.

Or, the manufacturer could bring out a software update with variable temperature control, that they CHARGE for, I for one would be willing to pay say US $70 for such an update. But, as others have said, they seem to be of the mindset that with-holding the feature gets them loads of bucks by selling ...
