Up! for sale

I have a blue uP! PLUS for sale I bought from up3dusa a few months ago. It has an upgraded stepper feeder, 2 extra platforms, 1 sheet of borosillicate glass. I am asking $2,500 for it. It is under warranty until next October. It is fully operational, no flaws or issues. I am selling it because I hav...

Re: Nozzle not heating

Sounds like the heater cartridge wire is loose. Try and do the same thing but wiggle the heater cartridge wire for the extruder. If you see the "Heating" pop up in the maintenance window, you know then that its a fault cable. If that's the case and you're printer is under warranty, contact PP3DP for...

2D Model?

I was just rummaging around in the UP! software and noticed under the "View" option and in the "Colors" option, there is a color scheme setup for 2D model where one could color loops, hatches and support. Is this to say that we can view the toolpath that is generated? And I apologize if I'm super la...

Re: 3D Systems major copycat?

While other printers in the sub-$3000 price range do catch up, I have not seen anything like the UP support generation and overall quality. Is there any device with the easy to remove support or similar quailtiy? I know there are more and more people printing with <0.2mm layers, which gives impress...

Extruder motor trim-pot

Which trim pot do I need to adjust to send more current to the extruder motor?

The left one or the right one? I'd like to boost the current a bit cause my extruder has always skipped on the fast setting, would like to see if increasing the current helps.

Using 12v power from current fan

Anyone attempt to use the 12V line for the extruder fan and piggy back on more fans? I'm trying to add a fan/heatsink combo on the back of the extruder motor and would like to splice the 12V to power it. All this is in hopes of printing with PLA. Or is a simple heatsink good enough to do the job? PP...

Re: PLA tips anyone?

Well I am also about to try some PLA. I got 5 lbs from Ultimachine blue. From my experiences with my RepRaps, I think they best surface for PLA is hot clean glass. I print with hot glass and kapton tape now, with PP3DP ABS, and its perfect when going raftless (def recommend that!). Also, I hear that...

Re: IRC Channel?

I'm sure if we build it, they will come.

Seeing as I know next to nothing about setting up a channel, who wants to take up the job?

IRC Channel?

How about we get an IRC channel going for uP! printers? Wouldn't you like to be able to instantly communicate with each other? :D

Extruder skips on FAST setting

Anyone else have issues with their extruder when printing on the FAST setting? My extruder skips and make a clunking noise when I Set the print to FAST, normal and fine don't have an issue.

Any tips or ideas for a fix?

Re: Secondary fan for printing w/ PLA?

I have a second 5v fan, same one thats on the head heat sink. I have also connected it into the same power and have the fan sitting on the opposite side - i.e. blowing onto the back of the stepper motor. The stepper motor is getting too hot for PLA and needs cooling. I have started a super large 10...

Re: Secondary fan for printing w/ PLA?

Yeah, I'm going to try and use the spare 5V. I got some 5V 40mm fans, modelling up some sort of attachment contraption now. Should have some results (and hopefully not a burnt out machine) by the end of the week. I'll probably throw in some sort of switch to power on and off. And I don't think I wan...

Secondary fan for printing w/ PLA?

So I've been trying to print with PLA and its coming out "OK." One of the issues is that it is printing too hot (using Ultimachine PLA, which I usually print on my RepRap with at 175C). I was wondering if anyone out there knew if there was someway to power a 12V 40mm fan with the onboard electronics...

No one has tried Ultimachine PLA here? They have 1.75mm filament in various colors.

Figured it out, the platform cable running to the MCU was just not connected. Easy fix!
