Re: New Nozzle, Bad output

I also just had my hot end replaced. The new tip is longer than the old one, but I haven't had any printing issues though. Is that picture a completed top layer ? Yup, that's a completed print job. The top layer is very sparse. To me, it looks like the flow is too low. This could be caused by: 1.Th...

New Nozzle, Bad output

So I recently had to send my hot end assembly back for and exchange. The thermocouple/cartridge heater wires had fatigued due to the many heat cycles it's printed through. But now when I print, everything looks like crap, it's more or less not extruding enough. It's to the point where I'm able to lo...

Re: All ABS is Not created equal

Any further feedback on others experiences with Octave plastics? I just ordered 4 rolls (blue, green, gold and purple). I'll post results following Drew's tips, but it'd be nice to know people's results with other colors.

Re: All ABS is Not created equal

So are all the plastics you tested using the same parameters for Z height, fill density , speed, etc?

n other words, are you using specific settings with non-OEM plastic? Or any settings work?

Re: Raftless Printing with Kapton Tape

Steelyd wrote:Thanks ata0921, that's what I want to hear, that it is possible. Could you give a few steps on how you apply the slurry?
One step only! After creating the mixture, I just take a cotton ball and dunk it in the slurry. Smear all over platform and you are good to go.

Re: Raftless Printing with Kapton Tape

Search on eBay for 6" wide Kapton or 6" PET (PET is thicker and lasts a bit longer in terms of wear and tear). BUT Kapton is cheaper, so pick your poison really. I use either in combination with an ABS,acetone slurry. Raftless is optimal when you have a VERY, very leveled bed. Do not overlook that. ...

For this mod, does one have to absolutely cut the X axis slot to make it wider?

Up! Extruder Heatsink

Anyone know where I could find a heatsink similar to that of which is currently on the UP! extruder? Kind of have an idea of drilling holes into it to cool for printing with PLA, as opposed to running a hose and air to the hub. BUT I rather try it knowing that there is a similar piece of heatsinking...

PP3DP Colored Plastic and PLA?

So is PP3DP ever going to offer colored ABS plastic? Whatever happened to official PLA as well? I know some have been using other ABS and PLA, but I haven't had any luck. And to be honest, I don't want to modify my uP! either. How about allowing more temperature ranges if we can't get official color...

Re: IRC Channel?

I think for now, we should just piggy back off of he #reprap channel on freenode (pretty much convenient cause I and a few other uP!ers are always there). So join the room! Look for me, handle name digiFAB. I'm in there ranting about the up! enough that it won't be a problem. And I know a few of you...

Re: Bowden cable, anyone tried it?

Point of attachment is always the tricky part. Another thing you have to worry about is heat migration. You have to keep the heat contained at the heater block and not allow it to rise up the tubing. Also most of the tubing used for Bowden's are not rated to operate at high of a temp as the uP! ABS ...

Re: Extruder skipping AGAIN!

Setting the Z too close to the nozzle can create back pressure and I've seen the skipping or clicking you describe, also I recently after a long print with ABS switched to a new Polycarbonate material and when I hit the "Extrude" the motor did not skip it slowed to a halt, I was able to get it goin...

Extruder skipping AGAIN!

My extruder motor randomly started skipping, it's done this before and I've been able to get a replacement. But it's happened again and I just wanted to get some insight on the issues from other UP!ers. On the original UP!'s I own this has not been a problem, it is the more recent model that has had ...

Re: UP software V1.16 and Mac V1.3

Just started printing with the Mac 1.3 version and noticed somethings when it was printing. 1. It did the first layer of support and then did the pre-print extrusion lead in routine, as opposed to the other way around. 2. The first layer speed is not slowed down like it was before either. Anyone el...

Re: UP software V1.16 and Mac V1.3

For a future update, could we possibly get a few other temp settings for ABS and PLA. ABS 270 or 230C and PLA 200 or 185C? Or maybe even let us change the temp ourselves? :D

Whatever happened to getting official PP3DP PLA?

Re: Up! for sale

Well, I'm just going to keep it at this price point! SALE IS CANCELLED! (reason being bad timing :D ) Seems like vendors are liquidating inventory at firesale prices. Maybe it is to make way for the next game changer? Let the speculation begin! I hope it's as big of a gamechanger as the UP! was when...
