Platform Model

Hi All, Just working on an update to the manual. Can anyone tell me what the "Platform Model" under the "Tools" menu does? I have tried clicking it but can't see what it does, but I dont have my printer connected as I am at home. Might be something that only activates when the printer is connected? ...

Re: Liquid ABS adhesive

Hi Drew, I am just in the process of upadating the manual to v1.14 of the software. In the manual we currently have a section on preparing the platform in which we cover the green paint, masking tape and veroboard. Any chance I could get you to email me through a detailed description of your kapton ...

Re: Liquid ABS adhesive

Hiya Drew,
You sure that's 130mm2? Looks more like around 60mm or 70mm relative to the platform?
Cheers

Re: UP! software V1.14 and MAC V1.1

Hi All, Just getting started on updateing that manual for V1.14, and one thing I immediatley notice is that I no longer seem to be able to rotate the view using the middle mouse button like I used to on previous versions. Am I the only one, or is this a software change? And if it is, is there a new ...

Re: Liquid ABS adhesive

Hi Krouvier, Thanks for that! But I notice that, althought the model you print is large, it is not really one continuous model, but a whole bunch of small ones put together. Could you please try printing a simple square, 130mm x 130mm x 3mm thick, in solid mode, and post back how well your method wo...

Re: "part material not enough"

Hi Brit, The best manual to use is probably the one at http://www.ciri.org.nz/downloads/UP!%20User%20Manual%2020101228.pdf I'll try to update it with details of the latest software version one of these weekends, but at least it contains info on the adding more material question you have (on page 26)...

Re: Thinking about getting an UP! and have some questions...

Hi, I am completely happy with my Up printer(s), but I would be careful if I were comparing them directly against Dimension parts... When holding an Up part (of medium complexity) up next to the same part done on our Dimension, the Dimension part is definitely of a better quality (better surface fin...

Re: Up experiences and cure for warping:Kapton tape

Hi All, I not a lot of people reporting back on warping cures, but the problme is that we are all using different parts so are, essentially comparing apples with oranges. Can I suggest we all use a square 130mm x 130 mm x 3mm thick to test and see if our various solutions can handle it? And printed ...

Re: Preview Out of Print Range

Hmmm. Could it be as simple as the height of your object being too tall? Remember the max print height is 135mm (not sure if that is on top of the thickness of the raft.

Re: need some references

Hi Martin,
I think the Up is still too new to have been used in university type research projects which is, I suspect, what you are after.
We'll probably be publishing a few over the upcoming year, but nothing yet. :-)

Damn! Took me a while to find out who I had brought them from. It was the Shenzhen Power Motor Company, and the particualr model I bought 100 of was the PGM-37 series. http://www.power-motor.com/ProductInfoExhibit/&id=64419709-9fc8-4f6d-b0ca-3a1783e029fc&comp_stats=comp-FrontProduct_list-001.html Ca...

Hi ty,
Under the 'maintenance' screen there is a 'stop all' button whihc will cancel everythign. After that, you just need to re-initialize your printer.

Re: Mecanum robot and homage to Madox

Ordered those motors from China about 2 years ago. They were so cheap (around $2.50 each) that I ordered a whole box of them to use for student projects. Geared to around 100rpm, if I remember correctly, with a 6mm shaft. Can look up who the supplier was if anyone is interested. Wireless USB dongle ...

Mecanum robot and homage to Madox

Hi All, Thanks to Madox's great help, I eventually managed to build one of his mini rover bots. Once I had that done, I figured he needed a big brother, so I built a bigger version (modified from a really big design I had done a few years back with machines aluminium wheels and pneumatics so it coul...

Re: Useful tip for support material removal

Will do some tests next week to see if tis doable. But I am reasonably sure the 2 parts need to be combined as a single part (ie: a single stl file) to print that way. The reason I suspect that is that the pic on the blog shows both parts selected as yellow, and I seem to remeber you can only select...

Re: Useful tip for support material removal

As the software is now, you cannot raise components into the air. Well... You can raise them in the air, and they appear to be loating in space, but the Up then drops them back down onto the floor when printing.
Would be a good new feature to add to the software, though. :-)
