Re: Whats your answer to the Printed Gun Question?

A kevlar filament fed into your plastic would allow the printing of a bullet proof vest, and would go some way to countering a printed gun

Nah..... Laystraight wire and a control line handle are more expensive than a radio set

Re: Taulman 645 Nylon

Cheers Roller,
YES, it was from the days I used to boil nylon propellers in dye for control line models. Boy, time has flown faster than any of my models :D

Re: Taulman 645 Nylon

If its nylon, can someone try boiling a part in dye to see if it readily takes colour.

Re: Reims Cathedral stl files and instructions

Thank you for the files, I don't have an UP printer yet, but appreciate the work and detail in this model. Hopefully at sometime in the near future I will get to build this wonderful model

The price in the UK is crazy, especially as it can be bought for hundreds of pounds less in Germany... I will continue to sit on the fence before parting with my cash.

Re: Talking of coffee...

We have a Gaggia Espresso, I love ground coffee but it has to be hand ground. I can taste the difference when its machine ground, it has a slight burnt taste. Hand made coffee also forces you to take a break from the computer which isn't a bad thing, then when your hyper on caffeine its back too it....

Wow, how long did it take to design print and assemble ? What an amazing advert for the UP plus...

Do you have any pictures of the components being printed.

Re: Is it me or does the website seem like it's been off lin

The last few days the connection has been very bad unless I use TOR browser to get in. At first I wondered if it had anything to do with the storm in the US. But TOR worked every time so it seems the ip is being blocked somewhere ?

Re: UP software v1.18 beta, support platform level calibrati

Peter, your spot on. I am looking at the mini as I can't really stretch to the UP plus. The table issue is a concern, I have the skill and facilities to correct it however I am not to keen on fixing a factory issue on a £1k+ machine. The other item I am watching is the software. I have no issue with...

Re: Filament Regular , Colored and Clear

Interesting point Pete, I didn't consider the fill issue. Had hoped the walls would transmit a fair amount of light... Shucks ;) back to the drawing board, heat gun and acrylic.

Re: Filament Regular , Colored and Clear

The clear sounds very interesting, how does it perform as light pipe. i.e a printed component for transmission of an LED to a front console. Does the light travel better along the filaments than across them when illuminated. Do the ends of clear printed componets benefit from cutting back and polish...

Re: Chemical to turn plastic to more of a rubber state.

Are you wanting a working model (solid soft rubber) as I would be tempted to experiment with dipping a small model in a rubber solution to coat it to achieve what you are after. i.e soft grip handle.

May I also add, it would be useful to have on the registration screen that all new members are moderated (but omit the number of posts required) this way it may deter them from even trying to register in the first place.

Printer resolutions

Why does the mini have a lower resolution 0.2mm than the Plus, at 0.15mm. Is this dictated by the hardware or just a software imposed limitation ?

Re: SPAM reports to Admin

I must say the information here is excellent, but the SPAM is a big problem. I run a cnc forum on Yahoo, all new members are moderated for at least 5 posts. If their account is compromised I block them, advise them then delete their account if required. SPAM is not an issue other than from Yahoo its...

Re: Hello Guys

This is just crying out for a micro switch attachment to the extruder that can map the bed automatically before a print session is run. A known clearance is used with the switch, say 3mm. I see from some of the pictures that the perf board appears to bow in the middle ? Is this the case, could a pri...
