Re: California senator trying to ban 3d printing

It's hard to get ammo right now in Ca. with lots of people hording due to recent gun law regulation scare (not to mention gun sales have gone through the roof). There has been lots of talk with ammo regulation but in my particular case it doesn't matter much what comes to be because I can reload any...

Re: California senator trying to ban 3d printing

Didn't they just print the lower, not the whole AR15?? And you will get my AR15 from my cold dead hands! :). No joke! The last I saw on the whole printed gun thing was them successfully shooting (via youtube) an AR with 3d printed lower (I thought it was SLA printed as well, but could be wrong). Hop...

Would you mind sharing the Afinia vendor? I think it is good to name those that are doing a great job, I have never had to send mine in but am hopeful I will have same experience if I do :).

Re: off center y axis

Team Carlisle, Nothing to do with the offset, but looking at the sample object you posted it looks like a lithopane. If so I reckon you could print it with the support and/or raft turned off as your print looks as though the support is a nightmare to remove. Setting of support to space 15, Area 20m...

I thought they were alien legs too, lol. Ok I have to ask, what is it?? Some futuristic wind turbine for electric power? :). I wouldn't mind one of those in my backyard taking me off the grid in the process. My back yard I'm referring to is +- 30 acres :).

Re: Platform Too Hot Error

Oh damn yikesss!! That doesn't sound good and I know you haven't had it long. By my estimations we bought approximately at the same time ( according to previous posts). I have heard about the heater cable possibly becoming an issue, but not the boards. And yes they are hella expensive to buy on thei...

Re: Yet another fan housing

I'm using that switch from Octave.com as well with Octave filament at the moment. It lets you extrude at a more reasonable temp. with the aftermarket filament so definitely worth the shot. Lots of good ideas to try and some seem like they will never work when thinking about them, you are close thoug...

Re: Yet another fan housing

Robin, I know exactly where you are here. Have been there hundreds of times and have boxes full of failed prints to show for it. When I had a very large piece that was over 2x the size of the Up!'s bed (using another 3d printer obviously), the only way I could get close was to use an enclosure. You ...

Re: *WIP* Up! Plus Enclosure

I didn't realize I was down to one piece left to print and the pins and I ran out of the color I was using. Oh well, one will be different. Thanks for the info on the size issues, I didn't think about putting it in place without the plexi, but I think I will dry fit it on the printer tonight and see...

Re: Yet another fan housing

Thanks for the information, I can never get enough information. Robin Same here, thanks for the insight as you all have hit some points that I have tackled recently. I have seen the occasional burn mark. I thought it was old plastic stuck to the nozzle transferring to the model, but if it becomes a...

Re: Release of finalised v1.18

Ahhhh! That's what all the 'new' pausing is about when laying down initial layers for raft. I had thought until reading this something was changing with my printer and was just watching it closely. It definitely started at the time I upgraded to new 1.18, but never saw it mentioned in software relea...

Re: Glass platform and temperature switch from Octave

I'm a day late and a dollar short at the door on this one :). Just posted a video link (which shows it) in response to getting that new Octave switch. I am also curious how this will effect the OEM sales as it makes the lower cost stuff perform like the expensive stuff (I still love the OEM expensiv...

Ok, I'm getting close! Have about 15 prints done :). I haven't got my p,exi yet as I wanted to see how things would come together and make sure I got correct dimensions for all plexi cuts. I will take pics, actually have taken some already as the prints are coming out superb. Have you completed your...

Re: Easy peeling raft

Hey there Robin et al, I buy lots of Octave filament as well (as well as OEM), and while you have a pretty cool trick there ;), Octave came out with a great new accessory that makes the raft/support issues go away completely. I used to fight anything raft and support related when printing the Octave...

That's a FLIR heat/cold sensing thingy. They use them on helicopters here state side for police a lot :). E.g. to catch bad guys hiding in the bushes, etc.

Re: Form 1 3D printer may become vapourware

I invested in this campaign, I really hope it gets worked out! Still no word from Formlabs on the situation (understandable with legal issues at hand), but I hope we get more nfo on what the status is asap. I really don't want to be out $2700+, that would not be good at all :(.
