Re: UP software v1.18 beta, support platform level calibrati
Well like I said, I am printing PLA fine at the moment. Except for the stringiness, but that easily brushed of when cool. And while I understand some have the bulging blocking of the extruder because of the region being so hot it softens the PLA, that never seemed the problem for me, I run a first-g...

Re: UP software v1.18 beta, support platform level calibrati
Well, prior to 1.17 I printed clear PLA at ABS settings. I could not get the PLA with PLA settings working normally, it withdrew and extruded fine, but as soon as it started printing it jammed. Assuming because the clear PLA needs a slightly higher temp. But I only recently got the other PLA colors,...

Re: UP software v1.18 beta, support platform level calibrati
Well I did not try PLA at PLA settings until 1.17. I got frequent pre-extruder thickening of the filament and subsequent jams. I did some minor hardware readjustments, but nothing spectacular. Not sure which wind barrie (10 or custom thingiverse one), anyway but with the flap OPEN (contrary to ABS t...

Re: UP software v1.18 beta, support platform level calibrati
So far I am very happy with 1.18 :-) I am currently only printing in PLA and the infill to border transitions are a lot better! Also PLA seems to print more reliably now. The only thing that keeps me puzzled, the FINE mode seems to be a lot faster? Will have to check/compare to previous versions but...

Re: Wall thickness - single line?
I just did a small test with the 0.15 mm thickness, a tube of 1 cm diameter with 0.5 mm prints empty.
But with 0.6 mm it prints ok: double walls though, but close enough so that they seem to fuse.

Re: UP! Software and ROM v1.17 Final
I personally have not tested it, but I saw a few posts up where people where unsuccessful with v1 firmware printers. And Bruce seems to acknowledge there is an issue with this firmware on v1. Never mind, I got bold and tried to update my printer with the 6.041 update and the update seems to have go...

Re: UP! Software and ROM v1.17 Final
Thank you, very exciting development! Unbelievable that my two+ year old printer still gets such incredible updates! That is, I am still running V6.02/F1.0, so it looks like I will have to wait till after the PRC holidays for either CPU/Firmware upgrade or a new compatible ROM it seems? Unless anyon...

Re: UP! software V1.15 and Mac 1.2
@chris still no idea, it seems o be working normally for the last weeks or so
@Darkhouse can you elaborate?
Is it a bug in the 1.0 firmware?
When is it triggered?
It has not happended for me in a while, but hate to see it re-appear?

Bowden cable, anyone tried it?
Hi all, I have been pondering for a while if it would be possible to change the Up! to use the Bowden cable principle which is popular on some diy printers. (to increase accuracy/less shaking on the higher speed settings) (in short, move extruder motor to other end of the plastic hose and push the f...

Re: Any built an enclosure for the Up!?
I am about to build such an enclosure :-) Just got the plexi-glas plates cut to create a 30x30x40cm box for my Up!. I intend to add some extra cooling ribs to all steppers and create a separate intake fan + exhaust for the bottom electronics (and get rid of the small whiny fan in there) As to the en...

Re: UP! software V1.15 and Mac 1.2
I am not sure if this is related to the 1.15 update or my printer (first-gen, no upgrade yet) But lately my printer has been acting up AFTER a print job. It does not stop when the job is finished, but seems to continue with remnants of previous printjobs :-S This has led to some f-ed up prints and s...

Re: Warranty Extension... Its official ;)
Need to free up some funds, but I'm definitely going for the warranty extension :-) So far I have hardly needed the warranty though. (broken feeder (not replaced yet), one new alu platform and soon one new heater cable) But I like their hassle free policy, and I feel the $200 is a bargain. Plus it's...

Re: Up experiences and cure for warping:Kapton tape
I have never had much success with more solid items that fill the platform. But for smaller solid parts or more hollow larger parts the (mendel-parts) kapton holds up well with ABS. I recently added a silicon heat pad between the heater block and the platform, as after nearly a year the heater block...

Re: UP! software upgrade to V1.13
Just an update on my experiences with latest software/roms on a firmware 1.0 printer: The only way I can switch plastic profile is to go: (thanks to wackojacko!) Maintenance "new spool" -> ABS/PLA EXIT the Up program. Run the up program. This workaround is only a slight bother. Anyway, after some ex...

Re: UP! software upgrade to V1.13
Also on a printer running firmware 1.0?
As the instructions explicitly say to use 6.02 and 6.01 for 1.0 printer?
The workaround to close the software after switching to PLA spool seems to stick!
Thanks!

Re: UP! software upgrade to V1.13
Ok, now I'm even more confused..? I loaded up the new software, wanting to print with PLA. According to the guide I should use version 6.02, which is already loaded from the 1.12 update. I go to maintenance, new spool -> PLA. Extrusion and withdraw goes ok at right temps, but as soon as I hit print,...

Re: UP! software upgrade to V1.13
Wow, excellent progress! Nice update! Love the UI enhancements and the initial test lines. Can't wait to try it! Seems only a small step towards material change during the pause ;-) But I am a bit confused on the roms/firmwares though: With the last rom that came with 1.11/1.12 it looked like the so...

Re: Z axis strange (after 1.11/1.12?)
One thing I noticed now is that it seems to be printing the same layers twice..even the raft. And also it seems like it´s only happening when I have more than one model one the build surface. When I only print one item the raft looks different. Not sure if this applies to, but if you manually put i...

Re: Up experiences and cure for warping:Kapton tape
I got my copperles perfboard here : http://cgi.ebay.com/Microminature-Prepunched-Perfboard-/130527593332?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item1e640d0374 And cut a plate-sized square from it as diagonal as possible. It worked well, but the board degrades fairly quickly, and large prin...
