Non sticking plastic

Been using my faithful printer for many months now, even though it seems to be mostly held together with blu-tac and sticky tape, and it's usually worked ok, but just lately, it's been having real trouble, half the attempts I make to print something fail immediately when no plastic comes out the ext...

Keeping it quiet?

I'll be spending the weekend at a large public event, that seems a good chance to show off my printer and what it can do. Trouble is, it makes a loud beeping noise any time it does anything, which I imagine will annoy a lot of people, especially if it keeps it up all day every day. Is there any way ...

Re: Good 1kg spool holder?

That last one was the one I tried, that doesn't fit the screws I've got. I guess I could look around for longer, thinner screws somewhere, but I'd rather not, I wouldn't even know which size to ask for. I'll have a look at the others, though, see if they look like they might work. :)

Good 1kg spool holder?

It looks like I need to find a new spool holder for my printer, to handle all these giant reels of plastic I've gotten. Trouble is, I've seen plenty around online and don't know which are any good. I can't tell which are compatible with the particular brand of printer I have, or the size of reel, or...

Re: Impossible to Calibrate Height

OK, even better, the entire heater block has just dropped off the bottom of the extruder, it seems there is literally nothing holding it in place or stopping the plastic thread from pushing it out of the way. What is going on here?

Impossible to Calibrate Height

I recently unblocked the nozzle of my printer, got the thing set up and working nicely again, and then realised the screw holding the extruder head in place could do with tightening a little. Afterwards, of course, I needed to slightly calibrate the height to make up for this little change, I notice...

Where to get a Working Printer?

I've had my UP! model printer for a couple of years now, and during that time it has barely worked, cutting out half way through printing, models that come unstuck from the printing board more often than not, screws held in place with blu-tac, the nozzle jamming over and over, parts coming out of al...

Re: Nozzle Cleaning

Seems I wasn't twisting it hard enough, I've got it free now, and it seems the inside is completely full of burnt black stuff. I'm not sure I can get a propane torch, but it's jammed firmly enough that I can't push it out from the other side either. Anything else I can use?

Nozzle Cleaning

So, I think my printer nozzle is blocked, it often stops working part way through, and sometimes the plastic sticks to the side of it rather than falling down. So, I want to give it a nice clean inside and out. Trouble is, I can't get it out of the machine, I see it has screws, but they're inside th...

Re: [BUG REPORT] printer falling apart?

it's not the platform levelling screws that are the problems, but the ones just above them, that hold the platform itself onto the little metal bracket. Still, I'll try your glue idea, must be better than the blu-tac I've been using until now :)

[BUG REPORT] printer falling apart?

Does anyone else have this problem, where occasionally whilst running, screws fall out of the printer, leaving the base platform able to twist from side to side? I've screwed them back in as tightly as I can each time, but it keeps happening, and not even always the same screw, any advice on what to...

Part of the model missing?

So I've started making models to print, stuff a little more complicated than I was doing before, and it has been going well, up until this latest model. Everything looks normal in the program I used to sculpt the model, and in the software for the printer when I'm getting that all set up, but when I...

Re: Need advice on printing surfaces

So glass plates with some sort of adhesive on top seem to work well? any idea where someone could buy these, I've never seen them on sale in local shops.

Re: Need advice on printing surfaces

I've been having problems with the original perfboard for months now, and asked here a couple of times, so I've tried pretty much everything and it doesn't seem to be helping, I don't know why, I suspect it might be something to do with the temperature or humidity of the room

Need advice on printing surfaces

The original base plates for printing on weren't very good, with the models peeling off half way through printing, so I looked around and ended up getting these fancy new 'gekko print surfaces' however, in spite of all the good reviews, I've been having trouble with them, they have a tendency to ben...

Got a Screw Loose

One of the screws under the base heater of my printer seems to be loose, the one that holds everything in place and stops the base board from twisting around just drops out every few minutes whenever the printer is running, and being within the heater, it's pretty hot, which makes it even more diffi...

Re: Raft keeps lifting from perfboard

I've been having the same problem for a while, and nothing I've tried seems to have worked. Those ceramic plates look helpful, I don't suppose you know anywhere other than ebay that I could get one? seems that site doesn't like me at the moment. Otherwise I guess all I can do is keep trying. It does...

And now it isn't heating properly either

Seems I'm having the worst luck with this machine, now whenever I turn it on, it can't get up to the right temperature. It heats gradually slower, until getting to about 240 or so, then it stops and sits there doing nothing. At first I thought it was because it was a little colder that day than usua...

Nozzle height calibration

I'm having a little bit of trouble, as things are now, the first layer prints with the nozzle too far above the base, meaning it comes out a bit odd looking and doesn't stick properly, but if I recalibrate it to be closer, all the subsequent layers are then too close, to the point where the nozzle i...

Re: Nothing seems to be working

Well, it prints at last, but two more problems: 1- the plastic doesn't stick to the board properly, meaning it comes loose part way through and slips around, messing everything up. 2- the nozzle height changes as it runs, meaning at the start it's a little too high and isn't printing right, and by t...
