Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

Yes, I neglected to mention that I've got heatsinks and a large 50mm fan cooling the exterior of the motor. That did wonders for cooling the housing of the motor! (I can now comfortably touch the motor, whereas before, it was extremely hot). But that's just the exterior of the motor, not the shaft/...

Re: Fridge light end cap.

As smarterengineering has pointed out, I also got mine from an automotive store (Repco). The product I used was made by Proform, called 1k high build primer/filler. Works great on plastic. You can then paint straight over it. The end result looks great! The layers of the print don't show up at all....

Re: Connecting Multiple Printers to a Single PC

Something else to also keep in mind is whether the calibration information that gets entered into the Up software (for a particular printer) gets transferred to the printer or continues being used by the software. If the latter, then each separate printer will receive incorrect calibration informati...

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

I'm running the new version with the very hot motor too. The air feed line on the top is designed to take a silicon tube and to be connected to a cheap air pump for a fish tank (see below). Its less than 20 bucks, and the silicon hose is flexible and can be routed around the machine. This will prov...

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

If anyone has any other experiences with this, let me know! I am more then happy to keep modifying/trying new things :) Eddie, I've been using your design for a few weeks and it's been working well with ABS. But with PLA, the heat from the gear soon causes feeding problems. (I've got the upgraded m...

Re: Printed Autopilot case

It's self-adhesive transparent laser printer film. Actually I'm more than satisfied with the detail quality & accuracy of print. Almost commercial quality of box. It was very easy to remove supports and raft. What's the toner-transfer method? The toner transfer method allows you to print text/graph...

Re: Printed Autopilot case

Looks very nice! Is the labeling printed on a sheet of transparency? And then just glued to the cap?

I've also read about some toner-transfer methods to ABS that seemed to have worked well. You may be interested in that for future projects.

Re: Ordering from UP3DUSA

Mike, I've had a couple orders from Up3DUSA and experienced the same lack of clarity of when my order would be shipped and had to continue checking in every week with no end in sight. I'm happy to say that they did come through in the end. Looks like there may be a significant backorder on the new v...

Benefits of Upgrade

Hello everyone, I've recently purchased an Up! and am learning quite a bit from reading these [very helpful!] forums. However, I'm trying to better understand the benefits of upgrading to the new motherboard, other than the addition of the on/off and initialize buttons. Does anybody have direct comp...
