Re: Where can I find the non-powered filament guide?

Hi Walter we can't access your c:/ drive. If you want to share it you will need to upload the STL file and maybe a photo of it. Hi Mate, You should be able to find the same file in your program directory (where you installed the UP software). Usually located in the Program Files/UP folder like Walt...

Re: UP! Software and ROM v1.17 Final

That looks like its Kapton stuck to the aluminium plate directly... I wouldnt recommend that at all. Removing the part would cause all kinds of issues with levelling! I strongly recommend my method - Get a thin piece of glass and cut to size, stick Kapton and use 2 bulldog clips to hold in place. Pr...

Re: 0.20mm vs 0.15mm

Thanks for the info on the setup :-) I'm not at home at the moment, can't wait to try. Does the firmware update change anything? Does the temperature display still show up? Im am running it right now, whilst printing, maintenance screen shows percentages (not the 0.9 - 1.0 display like before) on t...

Re: Turn off the beep!

I have found that a bit of tape really only changes the pitch... but the volume is identical. A much better solution (and makes the speaker practically inaudible) is to use a small bit of foam or sponge (and I mean tiny) and just wedge it ever so slightly into the hole. Buzzers like this one work by...

BTW there is 12VDC available right there for the existing fan. No telling how much extra current is available though. Yep, I just wanted to steer clear from modifying the electrics used for normal operation as i have had some problems. Just as a note - I have been using the 12VDC off the extruder b...

Re: Up3 File Format - Pointless?

I believe the point of the UP3 file format is to make it uneditable. Proprietary information needs to be protected, and also reduces the risk of people messing with things that shouldn't be messed with. Plus, it can also keep officially released files by the UP! group secure in a sense. Just my two ...

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

I'm running the new version with the very hot motor too. The air feed line on the top is designed to take a silicon tube and to be connected to a cheap air pump for a fish tank (see below). Its less than 20 bucks, and the silicon hose is flexible and can be routed around the machine. This will prov...

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

If anyone has any other experiences with this, let me know! I am more then happy to keep modifying/trying new things :) Eddie, I've been using your design for a few weeks and it's been working well with ABS. But with PLA, the heat from the gear soon causes feeding problems. (I've got the upgraded m...

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

I'm wondering what my best strategy is at this point. I think the spring-tensioned extruder is worth a print, and I'm thinking I should maybe drill out my feeder tube, but when I tried to remove my nozzle with the wrench after the last jam it was thoroughly stuck. I'm not sure whether the cause was...

Re: All of materials and 3D Printers

Absolutely! Great find Jose! Ill be in contact with the China sources, and see if we can get bulk supply of filament. From what I can see, its the same supplier of the filament I get from BilbyCNC here in Australia. If so, looks like we can get the stuff for 1/3 the cost of it locally supplied! Good...

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

Have you experienced any problems with drilling out your feed tube? I'm very tempted to do this--the pen clip modification works great for undersized filament, but I still have some which is oversized often enough to jam and cause problems. Also, did you use any special technique, or just hold the ...

I've designed and printed one, and it works fairly well - I will need to tweak it to work a little better.

I'll modify and upload tonight mate.

Let me know if you think it will help.

Re: Customised extruder feeder design *No Moving Parts*

Eddie, I believe a pretty good test to establishif it ABS or PLA is to dissolve it in MEK(Methyl Ethyl Ketone), or Acetone. If it dissolves easily it is probably ABS. as PLA does not react readily to these solvents. Just wipe a peice of the material with the solvent, if it is immediately sticky its...

I'm looking in my bin of CPU fans and I found a few that you guys might be interested in. I picked them up here-and-there, but I know that I got the CPU fan/heatsink at the local RVAC (USA). The blower is pretty small and looks like it could be made to fit as it has a very slim 10mm profile. 30x30x...

Re: Improvements I've made in the last year

Just as an FYI - I got a quote from a local manufacturer that we use regularly in our organisation for the Extruder mount he was looking for about AU$360 (~US$375) each!

At 150 its a bargain!

Re: Nozzle keeps jamming

The nozzle has a weird coating of clear-ish very hard 'goo' on it and there's also some that's come back up the little tube that feeds the nozzle, and it's jammed into the heater block. I've had to put the whole lot into bath of acetone to hopefully free it all. The nozzle also got rounded off a li...
