New Error.. "Nozzle Too Hot"

Printer is aborting midprint, now at the very start of prints. watching the thermometer, it heats to 1.0C, but sporadically jumps upwards to 1.1C or 1.3C, where it then aborts the print.

I double checked all the wires and it seems to have a solid connection.. has anyone else seen this error?

up! mini.. how does it compare in printer speed?

Does anyone here have an up! mini as well as the up! plus? I am considering buying for the next printer, but I'm curious about the print speed. One of the best features of the up! compared to other printers is how fast it can print, when you decrease the layer height especially. Does anyone have any...

Re: Upgrade kit... connector blocks?

Yes you need to put two jumpers on the fuse socket. Jumper left to right http://www.3DPrintingSystems.com AH ok, so no special fuse or anything? Did they just forget to put the jumpers in? I could take one jumper off my old motherboard, but that still leaves me 1 short -- where can I get this? I kn...

Re: Upgrade kit... connector blocks?

I performed the upgrade on my machine, you should have been given a complete new set of connector bodies to replace the ends of the cables that connect to the main board, was there a small bag of replacements included? there should be. Tip: don't snip apart the old connecters like the instructions ...

Upgrade kit... connector blocks?

Hey uppers -- I just got the upgrade kit for my old Up that has been printing for ~1.5yrs now, excited to have some new electronics in there (hopefully will eliminate all the sporadic failures we've been having). I am following the instructions for how to upgrade.. and it involves re-casing the wire...

Re: Problem when printing flat things

Because the plastic shrinks slightly as it cools (especially ABS, I think PLA does not have this problem as much), large prints are prone to this "warping" effect (especially in cold temperature or high air flow). A heated print bed is one method for reducing this -- people have also had luck puttin...

Re: Painting models

Hey -- we often used to paint things we printed https://www.etsy.com/listing/78063455/aperture-science-portal-companion-cube I have found good results with acrylic paints, the brand Folk-Art is pretty good, and only like $1.50 a bottle, Jo-Ann Fabrics or equivalent. Also this stuff is pretty great t...

Re: UP software V1.16 and Mac V1.3

And here is a weird bug that is pretty annoying in 1.16, I assume others have ran into it as well. When you click on a model for arranging, a box overlay pops up that says information about that model: the title, directory location (which can be quite long), vertex count, dimensions, etc. But I ofte...

Re: Have you also seen this with your UP!?

Just wanted to note, these at the top of my wishlist too! But in this order • Ability to disable support • Model+support preview prior to starting print • Nozzle temperature control And, I agree with Madox -- I print on an Up! and a makerbot Replicator, both have tolerances to be designed around. Un...

Awesome!! Do you have to re-apply anything to the glass (acetone, or acetone + ABS)? If so, how often?

Re: Newbie Software Question (How to disable supports)

Marcus -- I agree with you in general.. but there are certainly counter examples. In particular, models which were designed with a parametric angle tolerance, designed to be printed without support, or overhangs which are designed to provide their own support. I build a lot of screwless heart gears,...

Re: ABS/PLA filament for UP! 3D printer for sale on Amazon

Wonderful!! Quite competitive -- I notice they are almost out of stock, do you intend to maintain a constant stock? If so, do you intend to acquire 1.75mm water soluble filament? This has been in short supply, and I'm sure a lot of people are interested [myself included].. Also, I notice the shippin...

Re: Using MakerBot filament

Peter, Interesting.. Yes this is the same plastic I'm talking about, but I got it directly from MakerBot. The smoke is not as apparent in normal printing operation, but with the arm all the way down and a straight-line extrusion for me showed gas coming off the filament for at least a few cm. Right ...

Using MakerBot filament

Hey, has anyone used the colored plastics from MakerBot? It gives off an odd smell when coming out of the Up!... and I noticed that if you shine a flash light on the extruding plastic, it appears to be giving off some gas.. it looks like smoke coming off the plastic as it extrudes. Anyone had any ex...

Hardware malfunction: where there's smoke.....

So I hit another hardware malfunction today, and sent off a request to up!; but documenting it here in the forums. The printer was laying down the raft, when it stopped suddenly, saying 'printer system error'. When i re-initialized, it moved along the z axis fine, but when it tried to move along the...

Re: UP software V1.16 and Mac V1.3

Simple feature request -- one especially useful option (unsolid model) often fixes (or rather ignores) problems with models, including some that I print with regularity. However, about half the time i forget to check 'unsolid' -- and as far as I can tell, for models without problems 'unsolid' does n...

OK, so I wanted to post a report here, because I had exactly the same issues as described by the OP. Filament stopped extruding. After trying all the different things mentioned above with no luck, I read up there about the filament diameter. I calipered the different spools; a previous working filam...

one-sided warping

Hey, I've been printing for almost a year now, and have gone through many types of printer issues.. The perf board has done a good job for the most part in curbing the warping. But, the last several prints have had a new problem. Everything that prints on the right-hand-side of the platform separate...
