Re: Manual on how to create shapes

If you are trying to use the "Slicing" software that controls the printer to create a 3D model you cannot do that in most of them. You can create a 3D model in a modeling program, since you are a teacher I would recommend "Tinkercad" as a free and easy to learn modeling software. https://www.tinkerc...

Re: ABS prints peeling, wrong bed temperature?

I found a nice cheap solution, among all my other mods to make my UP Plus "Pro" work was the addition of an enclosure. 20170331_155850 smaller.jpg 8 PVC corners and 12 equal cut lengths of PVC pipe, then wrap the top in a double wall of Saran-wrap, then a single wrap around the outside walls. Light,...

Hello, are there PLA filaments made in the USA that work well on the Up Box Plus? Do I need to make a holder to hole the filaments so that they could be fed into the extruder smoothly?

This shouldn't even be a list, this is common sense, TT's main program has always been the largest selling PC operating system, it should also support the worlds most used phone operating system too.
Of course a YES from me!

Here is a cut down version of my list of current materials I have in stock and what works and what is troublesome in regards only to my UP Plus Pro.

Re: Stepper Gear Wearing

There's 2 things going on with this mod. The gripper, and the additional cooling. I't be nice to know if one or other has the most impact. If it's cooling then we could handle that with some printed parts... Owen S. The cooling part of the design was to battle the problem of PLA and the high temps ...

Re: Stepper Gear Wearing

I'm wondering if it might be good to have 2 toothed wheels (one each side of the filament) rather than one toothed and one smooth. The other side of me thinks that if the gear is chewing into the filament then we're treating the symptom not the disease... Owen S. Chewing the filament from both side...

Re: Stepper Gear Wearing

This is still the best solution as the grind-outs can occur if the filament looses diameter in any section due to tolerance issues and they happen far more than you can imagine. https://www.up3d.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=753&hilit=year#p5473 All the files are there, mod them for your machin...

Re: Up Box. The gap between the walls is not filled

Sometimes you can get a better fill on a "narrow" wall by rotating the model slightly on the Z axis so that it is not in a direct line with the X or Y build directions, this has been discussed before on the forum, do a search I'm sure you can find it.

I currently use SolidWorks 2016, I'm a Mechanical Designer and need the more robust CAD for design tooling for my business and clients, in the past 40 plus years I have used all the Higher priced software's, ProE, Autodesk products, IBM Main Frame CADAM and CoCreate Onespace, and many others, plus I...

Anyway, thanks Drew! Even though this printer is a fairly old model at this point, all your hard work is still benefiting others! You are very welcome, and I still use my "UP Plus Pro" sometimes, it is a member of my 5 printer stable now. UP Plus Pro Zortrax M200 Pro Tiko Cetus Extended Raise3D N2+...

I switched my build plates to glass with an equal success with purple glue stick on glass and buildtac on glass, sometimes for really large prints I even have coated the buildtac with glue stick with success.

Did you "merge" all the parts in the UP Studio before slicing?
Looks like you missed that step.

Re: Extruder Stepper Motor not running

Do you have a plastic "cleaner" installed, the plastic is charged and attracts dust and other stuff that will create a nice plug in the nozzle.

I have no idea why this would make it stick, but stick it did.
Slows the printhead down and allows a more pressed into build plate of the plastic.

Re: Calibration for different materials

Does that mean that dimensional accuracy is not affected by shrinkage factor etc? Also how can I print the calibration model? I cannot find the file location. Yes shrink rate will effect the model but you DO NOT calibrate for that, you scale the model and adjust the model holes to achieve the desir...

calibration is for the mechanics of the stepper motors not the material.
