Re: Up Mini Adjustable Bed mod for Raftless Printing

Just thought I'd chime in hear to heap some praise on Woodlake for this ingenious solution to the bed levelling problem on these Minis! You have saved my UP Mini from the landfill! I've always had issues with my UP! Mini bed calibration being way out of wack. I had almost given up on it after spendi...

Re: Platform Calibration on UPStudio

That's a shame to hear, but thanks for the info. Given how out-of-square my particular Mini is, UP Studio is practically useless without such a fundamental feature. I am sure there are others with the same problem too. I guess it's UP3D's way of selling newer printers though. Again, thanks for the i...

Re: Platform Calibration on UPStudio

Just thought I'd bump this one up again since there's been a few versions released since I last posted.

Has the full set of platform calibration settings now been included in Up Studio? Specifically the setting correct the skewing of models via a calibration model and physical measurement?

Re: Platform Calibration on UPStudio

Ah, that's a shame. Thanks for confirming my suspicions there. Funny isn't it, that all most of us wanted was a temperature control option in the older software, but instead we get given a whole new package which I feel is less intuitive and is missing vital features! I'm sure it would have taken th...

Re: Up! Mini Z axis + SD Card Issues

I had similar issues to you with my Mini, and I can confirm that other SD cards will work in it. In my case. it seemed that the SD card died which was causing all the problems. I put in a spare 2GB card I had lying around and it all worked correctly. The Z axis dropping that you mention seems to be ...

Platform Calibration on UPStudio

Hey all, Thought I'd try here and see if anyone else has the answer, since I've turned up nothing by searching this far. I'm trying to make a go of using UPStudio with my aging UP Mini since it finally gives us temperature control, but I'm having a problem with platform calibration. The standard 9 p...

Re: What function does this serve?

Nope, bought the machine brand new back in the day. It doesn't line up with the door at all, but is obscured by the curved plastic cover that goes over the top of the machine. I can't see any possible reason for putting this on the machine other than a place to store a spare screw for some reason! V...

What function does this serve?

Hi everyone, Just in the process of a teardown of my Mini so I can clean out all the plastic dust, relubricate the linear bearings properly, and have another attempt at bed calibration. I removed the top plastic facia and came across this plastic bracket that is retaining a socket head screw for som...

Re: Adjustable bed leveling for the Mini

Good to know that it's working well for you! It gives me hope that there might be a way to make some improvements.

Out of interest, about how much did the block of aluminium that you milled the new part from set you back?

Re: Adjustable bed leveling for the Mini

Nice job! My primary gripe with the UP Mini is the sloppy tolerances for the print platform. On my Mini, the bed is only barely within limits of the software calibration, and that's after spending a lot of time inserting shims and tweaking the mountings. I am very interested in seeing this modificat...

PolyFlex and UP Mini

Hey everyone, Just wanted to see if anyone has been successful with an UP Mini and PolyFlex filament. And if you have, what is the secret? I just got my first spool of it today, loaded it up into my Mini on ABS settings, temp mod enabled to bring the head to ~230c, and let it rip. All looked to be w...

Thanks for the feedback and the information.

So maybe something like this would do the trick?

Bowden Tube

Hi everyone, I've been Googling for this for a couple of days now and not found what I'm after, so I thought I'd ask around people in the know who might be able to help. I want more Bowden tube for my Mini. The original is starting to deform around the end , and while I can trim it off, eventually I...

Re: Have printer a few months. Still no good heating solutio

I can confirm that the solution Jeeplvr has recommended will help immensely. I replaced the temperature switch on mine with an 80C unit (parts price was about $10 shipped here in Oz) and since then the warping problem is virtually gone. With good quality filament, I haven't had a problem with warpag...

Re: Improvements I've made in the last year

I'll ask the question that I've been waiting for someone else to ask, but nobody seems to be doing. Anyone who has both and UP Plus and and UP Mini care to take a look to see if the Extruder mount can be used on the Mini as well? I'm on an ongoing quest to improve the longevity and print quality of ...

Re: Up Mini Mainboard Cooler Mod

So, a couple of days of usage now with the mainboard cooler in place. This works a treat, the back of the unit is appreciably cooler than the rest of the machine, which has to be better for the control electronics in the long term.

Recommended mod, thanks for designing it Brad72!

Re: Up Mini Mainboard Cooler Mod

I decided to give Brad72's mainboard cooler mod a run on my UP Mini today, so after finally printing out the parts and installing into the printer, I have the following. Fits like a glove! http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a590/Grant_S_Watson/f1c84a81-8b87-45b1-9bc2-60601041a4c0_zps9b9e0f79.jpg Th...

Re: CPU burn out

I've had my CPU in the Mini fail twice since I've owned it, both times replaced under warranty. However, I have concerns about the longevity of these CPU's given the heated chamber and the fact that the controller board and CPU are not thermally isolated. The project done by brad72 here on the forum...

Re: Up Mini perf board heater mod

Wow, I haven't checked in for a while! Good to see some other adventurous Uppers modding their Mini's. And to answer your questions, yes, my Mini is still running strong with the mod in place. I thought about incorporating a switch and the two thermostats in my mod, but all things considered, the 50...
