Re: Upgrades and Firmware revisions we'd like for the UP300

if measurement non-volatile through power switching, then may be able to give warning of moisture take-up as well! This much is true, but it is complicated and relies on accurate spool measurements during initial spooling, as well as knowing the moisture content at the point of opening. Consistency...

Re: Upgrades and Firmware revisions we'd like for the UP300

I'd suggest distance over weight, as the weight can vary by 10% easily by moisture content alone, and I've seen as much as 15% during some experiments I did with an autoclave measuring moisture loss in autoclaved ABS models... ( It's amazing, but heating up an ABS model in steam to 120% or so remove...

An unexplained feed failure. No mechanical failure this time.

So I was printing a model, and after about 10 minutes, noticed it was printing to air. I waited a little, since it's a complex model and wasn't easy to see that it had stopped printing, but then I opened the filament door and lightly felt the filament and sure enough it was stationary. My first thou...

Re: How good is the UP300 ?

I wouldn't want to tap these too much. Best results are from printing the threads and then wetting the threads slightly with MEK before installing a helicoil, and perhaps leaving a bolt in place to make sure that any excess melt doesn't affect the pitch of the helicoil. This requires no afterprint w...

There are also Quick links for things like active and unanswered topics btw. (Up left corner) Hi Bjorn, It's more a need to be able to subscribe to a forum, not just a topic... So that when new posts are made, they can be responded to quickly, instead of a week later when someone checks the forum. ...

Re: How good is the UP300 ?

Another perspective here. Most of the UP300 I find pretty good. The rigidity removes a lot of artifacts from the model caused by oscillation of the head when it makes sudden 90-degree direction changes - something that is readily visible in earlier units. Print speed is good, and I find I am using 0...

Re: Subscribing to a "forum".

Hi Brook,

Did anything come of this? I notice a lot of new questions simply don't get answered, because the forum regulars don't hang around checking for new messages all the time -

David

Re: Upgrades and Firmware revisions we'd like for the UP300

The spool holder definitely doesn't weigh the spool. It does appear easy enough to remove though - just some bolts into captive nuts. I've been thinking about making my own spool holder also since the one in the UP300 pretty much sucks... I've even thought about making one with a mechanism to automa...

Hi,

The example of the hot end pics didn't show up - Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the matter?

Thanks

Re: up300 with external slicer

Hi BigE79, Can you please try setting your extrusion width to 0.6 and printing at 99% and let me know if that fixes the detached wall problem for you also? I find it keeps defaulting back to 0.45 a lot, but I find that at 0.4, 0.5 and 0.7 I still get the problem. At 0.6, it seems to go away for some...

Re: Abnormal number of filament feed failures on UP300

My experience and investigations suggested that if the filament jams, it will clog the feed gear, but nothing I saw suggested that hot plastic was causing clogging. If I had to guess, it might have even had a cleaning effect on smaller particles. Ripping seems to cause the most problem, but doesn't ...

Re: Abnormal number of filament feed failures on UP300

Seems to be printing Ok today, no bad sounds, no feed problems. I flushed the head after removing the nozzle and filament feed bracket by pushing a piece of clean filament through it, and found some shiny bits, which could have been metal fragments from the previous head and/or heater, and might hav...

Re: Serious infill bug in recent versions..

Did a test with 0.45 (default), 0.6 and 0.7 0.45 walls can be torn away from infill by a fingernail. 0.6 walls are missing infill entirely, and have about 1/3 of the infill missing. The wall is floating without any connection. 0.7 walls appear to be solid. This seems strange - Almost like it's rando...

Re: Abnormal number of filament feed failures on UP300

I took the print head apart without removing the filament so I could see what was wrong, and having cleaned it, found a clear indication of the filament being chewed out, with pieces still stuck in the feed mechanism. IMG_20190128_182644.jpg IMG_20190128_182324.jpg So I started to wonder if somethin...

Re: Serious infill bug in recent versions..

Hi Brook, So far, experiments suggest that as the extrusion width setting increases, the infill problem actually gets worse, but I'll try .6 and .7 and let you know. A tutorial sounds great - ! :) Thank you if you can do that some time I would be very appreciative. Thanks for supporting the forum so...

Re: Abnormal number of filament feed failures on UP300

Hi Brook, I have some updated information today - I had significant feed problems today, to the point that I could no longer get a print. It took me about 6 hours to solve. First, I noted that when I reduced the extrudion width to address the infill problems in up studio, I had very rapid problems, ...

Serious infill bug in recent versions..

Hi Tiertime, can you help? I'm not sure if this is a software or hardware problem, so I've posted in both. I've managed to perform some test prints and it appears there's a serious offset related issue in the infill generation in Up Studio with the UP300. http://aunv.blackice.com.au/userfiles/david-...

Re: Slicing Errors for UP300?

Was this problem added to a timeline to be fixed? I still get walls that don't stick to the infil on one side all of the time when printing.

Is there a workaround?

Thanks
