Thinking of Selling Up 2 Plus (AUS/VIC)

Got myself an Ender 3 and upgraded it to use a 32 bit board. I had plans to also upgrade the Up to new board and firmware as it would have still been cheaper than the 32 bit CPU on offer and would allow me to use Simplify 3D or anything as a slicer. I've since decided just to have 1 printer and max ...

Re: Titan AERO :D

Hi, thanks a lot for the detailed explanation of the small PCB. My mod was fairly simple, complete redesign of the extruder housing and hacked into the small pcb to power a small LED above the extruder. I found with the original one on any job > 2+ hours the stepper motor would get so hot it would s...

Re: 3d printer with remote monitoring and shutdown

I guess remote desktop would work... but it means installing software and I have no idea if it would work off an iphone, ipad etc. The way I had envisioned would be the ability to just send a command to a web page to get feedback from a job. It would be quite easy to pull the webcam address out of t...

Re: Titan AERO :D

Very nice!

I assume you reverse engineered the PCB near the extruder?

Really wish the Up was more open as I'd love to make an OLED display for it and have remote shutdown functionality.

[feature request] printer status feedback and a few hotkeys

Hi, I wrote a few articles on a) viewing printer with remote web cam over the Internet and b) possibility of pausing/stopping job remotely in :- https://www.up3d.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=562870 and https://www.up3d.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=56290 I have a process that sits on Wind...

Re: 3d printer with remote monitoring and shutdown

:( Hit a slight snag as the Up Studio is an application in a single window and does not seem to have any other widgets to search for after the main window. The older Up Printer software is a "normal" Windows application and has a heap of status bars etc unlike the new one. The new one also does NOT ...

3d printer with remote monitoring and shutdown

Following on with the ability to setup a webcam next to (or above etc) a 3d printer it would be great to be able to get remote feedback and have the ability to pause (or stop or even shutdown) a 3d print. Not too sure how I'd handle it if logged on to a web cam and saw a blob of molten plastic burni...

Re: Webcam remote viewer

When plugged in and going I have now managed to live stream it (friend in Sydney has a look). I have a usb hub now so will mount a small usb led light near it as well. I also got it working on the ipod browser. I think I may be able to pause the print remotely by sending key presses to the 3d printe...

Webcam remote viewer

I recently got an older PC going in the shed and moved my Up 2 Plus 3D printer in there. Works great and has freed up a room in the house. However going out to the shed multiple times to check a print job is a pain so I rigged up a web cam above the home made enclosure that looks down onto the bed. ...

Re: up2 ... any options other than over USB?

Actually... might be in luck did some searching and found https://www.virtualhere.com/ If it works as per advertised then it seems I would plug the UBS from the UP into a "device" that is network aware and then the UP should become a virtual UBS connection where the UP thinks it's connected to the c...

up2 ... any options other than over USB?

Hi, had my UP 2 Plus for quite a while but it's been too dormant due to lack of room. I originally wanted to do up the back workshop in 2011 but got seriously ill that year and took ages to recover. Well, time marches on and I've decided just to make the outside shed usable so I can use it now rathe...

Re: The case FOR closed software

 Yes... I started a plan last night and 1st was ARM 32 bit all the way with as little HW dependant code as possible. I have a very nice Timer library for the Due that is small and will be used for handling interrupts for the steppers. I had a "brain storm" this morning where I would try and d...

The case FOR closed software

I was thinking of modding the Marlin 3D printer firmware code to support an Arduino Due instead of the Mega 2560 but discovered it's a huge mess. TBO I think it's on the brink of potential disaster as it tries to support every board, hardware combination, LCD, push buttons, heat bed, fan and extrude...

Re: UP Studio Roadmap

Owen S. you hit the nail on the head as I see it, couldn't have said it better myself. Our ultimate aim is the same... for the software to be unequalled in loading, viewing, slicing and printing. This has to be the core functionality especially when the UP is hardware and software locked. For creati...

Re: UP Studio Roadmap

don't get me wrong but I doubt any of us really care for any of the features you just mentioned (dunno about noobs maybe they do) .. except if for 3rd party apps you don't publish an open api that any of us can plugin our own code in and if that api gives access to all aspects of the slicer, code g...

Re: Up Studio Bug report / Feature request

OK... it seems can only add customized filament/material after logging in but can still pick any that have been previously created. Why does it require a login to create a customized material if I can still pick a previously created one when not logged in ? It allows me to pick "Customized" from the...

Re: UP studio software queries/suggestions

Thanks for the feedback and support guys, glad that I'm not the only one with these thoughts! :D :D @04Stefan07 - there is an option that can be ticked in the print preferences called "no support". I have no idea if it actually works but it is there and might be worth a try! I agree with your point...

Up Studio Bug report / Feature request

 Wondering why we have to log into the software before printing? Never had to do this on the original software. Used for checking updates? Maybe there's some feature I have not used that requires a login ? Is it sending usage statistics back to base? Is it seeing who is using OEM filament? :i...

Re: Conversion of UP! to Reprap Electronics

 I like that someone has an alternative solution for a blown cpu and/or motherboard. I saw the replacement cost of these and freaked out ... just as much as a new machine or deposit on an upgrade. I've done a lot of low level programming with Arduino and would do something similar but use the...
