Re: Base plate heating is low in the end.

I sometimes use a very weak solution of ABS and Acetone to rub onto the heat bed using my finger. It makes prints stick like glue.
A very runny solution, like water, not like a paste.

Re: Up Studio

I second Drew's comments: 1. Loss of ability to "pan" using the right mouse button along with rotate and zoom. 2. If using an "Icon" interface have a text explanation "pop up" when hovering the cursor over icon buttons. 3. Loss of ability to "pre-heat" platform before printing. 4. unable to reduce o...

Re: 3M Blue tape... new style = bad?

Hi Drew, I found the blue tape I was using, you have to look for the word "Original" on the side....

In terms of the glue, do you let it dry first, or use when tacky? The equivalent here in Oz is probably the Pritt-Stick.

3M Blue tape... new style = bad?

Hi All, I just bought a roll of what must be a change in product for the 3M blue tape. The new stuff is smoother, and has yellow writing all through it. Just tried it, just like I did the old stuff. It sucks. I'm going to test again, but its just not sticky enough on the glue side! As soon as ABS st...

UP Mini Platform Heater v2 Vs Mods

Hi all, has anyone got or tried the UP Mini Platform Heater v2??
I've tried the thermal switch trick (100c) and the standard platform only ever gets to around 52 degrees.

Is there anything else I can try before I take the plunge and get the 80 degree platform?

Thanks

My first stepper cooler modification

Hi All, I took a leaf out of jeeplvr's book and tried my hand at a stepper cooler for my Up Mini. Actually I modded his design. Thanks! :) I used Tinkercad, I dont have the skillz in anything else yet. I made the platform where the circuit board fits on the top thicker as it was very snappable. I al...

Fine mode Raft config?

Hi All, peeling the raft away from part in normal mode is quite painful and time consuming for me.
BUT in Fine mode it peels right off.
Can anyone tell me the difference between the two and how I might be able to get the fine style raft when printing in normal or fast modes?
Thanks in advance!

My print bed mods - Bed and Temps

Hi All, thought I would pass on my experiences with my Mini. Firstly I'm using a glass print bed. One of these, slides right in, and although slightly longer, it hasn't caused an issue for me, just centre it on the platform. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LearCNC-140x150-Boro-Glass-Bed-Plate-for-UP-RepR...

Re: PLA Printing

Update. I have again been trying all different temps with this PLA, no joy yet. I have been able to get the PLA to extrude when using the Extrude command from the maintenance panel, but when I try printing, I get the clunks. I presume thats from the motor being unable to push more material into the ...

Hi Guys, Can anyone using the software temp mod pls post the temps they are using to print with PLA?
I bought some aftermarket PLA to test, having no luck at the moment, just getting the dreaded clunks.

Thanks

When prints go wrong....

Hi all, does anyone have pics of prints they have done that could be used to show what happens when nozzle temps are too high or low, or when other factors are wrong?
It would be useful as a reference for me and others I expect!

Thanks
