Re: IMPORTANT FEATURE REQUEST!!! Flexible Filament

Try printing in 'Fine' mode - that makes the printer move more slowly.

And to save you looking for the thread, you turn the LEDs on by double-clicking the power button on the front.

Re: old-fashioned rafts ?

Did you set your nozzle height? If you're a tad high then the raft won't be mushed into the perf board.

Or it's a Mac thing - can't say since I don't have a Mac.

Re: Ran out of filament during print.

I thought the UP! wouldn't let you print if it thought you wouldn't have enough filament.
Of course that means you have to A) make sure to use the 'New Spool' dialog to set how much filament is actually on the new spool, and B) keep track of how much is on each spool when you withdraw it.

Yes. The UP! printers work best with ABS.

Re: PLA printing never works

It also helps to add a temperature mod. I've got the Octave one (just the simple 8 setting one). Still tricky to find just the right setup.
It also helps for PLA to leave the cabinet open for quicker cooling.

Re: raised lettering issue

You may be going below the resolution limit for the printer. I made a set of resolution test plates and found that the Mini can't reliably resolve a raised bit below 0.6mm. If some parts of your letters are smaller than that they may or may not print. The UP! Plus & Plus 2 go down to 0.15 instead of...

I just shut mine down - hit the front switch and let it go through its routine, then turned off the switch in the back. Gave it a couple of seconds and then powered back up.

See if you can select 'center weighting' for the exposure mode. That would be less work. It might also be called 'spot'.

Re: Error 006. Z positive limit error

I bumped the platform on my Mini changing out the perf board and later got that error. I powered the machine down completely - using the hard power switch on the back. Powered back up and everything reset itself properly. Hopefully this will work for you too. Don't forget to recheck / reset your noz...

Anyone gotten the UP! to work with 3rd party software?

Just wondering if any of you folks with lots of printer experience have gotten the UP! (especially the Mini) to work with other than the UP! software. For me all I need is for them to fix the separation issue (although turning on real temperature control would be nice too) but I figure someone has t...

As mentioned before, it would be nice to have a little more interaction from the company. It's nice to have a space for ourselves, but it's even nicer to have a channel to official answers. For those of us who like to read all of the messages it would be nice to have 'next / previous' topic buttons....

Check inside for bits of 'stuff' - I had this sort of thing happen and it appeared to be due to a bit of plastic getting into the works.

Re: [BUG REPORT] - No 'pause' after raft

Drew , at first I thought it was something like that but it's not in the corner of the perf board, just the corner of the build. I've always been having a corner being harder to clear than the rest, this very thin (1mm) object just magnifies the problem enough to make it easy to see. Watch on your ...

[BUG REPORT] - No 'pause' after raft

I've been trying to print a Thing that's a real test of your raft separation - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:360615 The 1mm thick part really lets you know if you're able to cleanly get your part off of the support. In my case the answer was 'NO'. The part always sticks in one corner. I've notice...

Clip for Octave Switch on Mini

Since they said they aren't allowed to do temperature control in software I got the simple switch from Octave.
The clip it comes with is for the Alfina's extruder cover so I wound up making a variation of theirs for the UP! Mini.
It's on Thingverse here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:421278

Re: $500 for an Up! Mini!

I'm with Drew in this one. 3D printers have come a long way from where they started and are now consumer items.... barely . Right now they seem to be about the same stage of development as cellphones in the late 1990's. Major improvements are coming at a fast and furious pace and anyone who buys one...
